What are the risks of being sued?

Almost everyone we speak with initially has concerns about their liabilities in the USA. There are ways to substantially limit risk and we can discuss this with you.

How does the US sales tax system work?

The sales tax system in the US is a little different to the UK and Europe.  Much depends on what’s called “Nexus”.  A “Nexus” is where your business has a presence (a warehouse is a presence, a home office is a presence) and where product is shipped to or from depending on the state or county inside of a state.

Do I need specific insurance?

Yes.  Specific insurance is required and it depends on the types of products being supplied.  In all cases Product Liability Insurance is a must and more retailers will not purchase product without evidence of this.  2Vida USA Inc has product liability insurance that we can add you to (your brand will need to be named on the policy).

Are my products legal in the USA?

Compliance and certification is an area that often confuses.  Normally if a product is CE certified then it should pass similar tests for the US market.  In the USA UL certifications are common requirements as are FCC.  We work with Intertek to ensure compliance. California has it’s own set of rules which are similar to RoHS.

How do you make your money?

This depends on the services required.  If we anticipate the sales cycle is going to be 6 to 12 months we would work with you on an initial partnership basis and we would expect both of us to invest in your brands success.  This would typically mean we would charge a sales retainer for the first 6 to 12 months and at least until we can make a return through the supply of physical goods.
